Exposing Red Flags: THE TRUTHS

Crystal shops have become increasingly popular in recent years, with many people turning to these mystical objects for their purported healing and spiritual properties. While there are many reputable crystal shops out there, unfortunately, there are also some that are less than trustworthy. In this blog post, we’ll discuss some common red flags to look out for when shopping for crystals.

Overpromising claims

One of the most common red flags to watch out for are crystal shops that make unrealistic or overpromising claims about the healing properties of their products. While crystals can be helpful for promoting mindfulness and relaxation, they are not a cure-all for serious health conditions. If a crystal shop is making exaggerated health claims, it’s best to be cautious and do your own research.

All that being said, we suggest you checkout our Disclaimer to see our view about this important topic.

Lack of Transparency

A trustworthy crystal shop should be transparent about where their crystals come from and how they are sourced. If a shop is not forthcoming with this information, it may be a sign that they are not sourcing their crystals ethically or may even be selling synthetic or fake crystals.

As mentioned in Our Ethics page, we are very serious about transparency and sourcing our crystals.

Another red flag to watch out for is claiming or labelling their products as “natural” where they are not quite exactly is, or they’re not disclosing that the products have been through certain treatments or altercations, let alone selling straight up pieces of glass and claims it was something else. Most common practice used in this industry is not mentioning the common very yellow or vibrant “citrine” we can find almost in every crystal shop is actually not really a citrine! Quite bit of a shock, ha? Well, we’ve got a whole another article you can read that discussed everything about it here.

Another example of misleading information that has been around for the last few months/years is how some shops are selling what they labelled it as a “Green Angelite” or even as a “Green Larimar”. I know, crazy right?!

As much as how adorable these pieces are, we can assure you that they are 100% NOT anything but a man made products, they’re simply some coloured molten glass that has been processed to mimic Larimar characteristics. How do we know? Well, we did some digging and, yeps, one of our suppliers in China confirmed that one of the producers of this ornament is actually none other than temselves. So.. it couldn’t be more accurate than that.

Offers Gem Certificates For Inexpensive Items

Well, trust us, we know it feels “legit” or “prestigious” when the crystals you buy comes with its very own certificate. But, is it really necessary, though? A reputable crystal shop surely would gladly provide Gem Certificates by request that will be added to your invoice. However, the costs ranges from Rp100.000 up to Rp500.000 per item according to the Skylab Indonesia pricelist. Based on this alone, you might want to raise your alertness up when you see something is odd when you go shopping for your crystals online.

Pushy Sales Tactics

Finally, be wary of crystal shops that use pushy sales tactics or pressure you into buying products. A trustworthy shop should be focused on helping you find the right crystals for your needs and should not pressure you into making a purchase.

In spite all that, there are plenty of reputable crystal shops out there, but it’s important to be aware of the red flags that can indicate an untrustworthy shop and educate yourself by doing your own research from credible sources available. By knowing what to look out for, you can ensure that you are purchasing high-quality and ethically sourced crystals that are truly beneficial for your spiritual and emotional well-being.
